The Missouri Master Naturalist Program began in 2004. Participants in the program become Certified Master Naturalists by completing an initial 40 hour course, at least 8 hours of continuing education, and 40 hours of natural resource related volunteer service. The program is chapter based - courses are offered at the local level and participants become members of local, self-governing chapters.
The program is co-sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension, MU School of Natural Resources, and the Missouri Department of Conservation
